Alfred

Alfred, affectionately known as Alfie, is a sweet and sensitive boy who is still learning to trust his surroundings after a difficult start to life. Once he feels comfortable, his playful side shines through, especially when he's romping with other dogs his size. He's also discovering the joys of human affection, learning that belly rubs are wonderful and that climbing pet steps leads to cozy snuggles in his foster's bed. Alfie is housetrained, barks when excited but isn't overly vocal, and loves a good game of tug.

As a Dachshund and Chihuahua mix, Alfred combines the spirited nature of both breeds. Dachshunds are known for their playful and sometimes stubborn personalities, while Chihuahuas are often loyal and can be a bit wary of strangers. Alfie embodies this blend, showing initial shyness but quickly warming up to gentle interactions. Both breeds generally have low grooming needs with their short coats and moderate shedding. His energy level is moderate, enjoying playtime and then curling up for a nap, making him a good fit for daily walks and indoor play.

Alfie would thrive in a patient and understanding home that can help him continue to build his confidence. He truly enjoys the companionship of other dogs and would be happiest in a household with another canine friend to play and snuggle with. Due to his skittish temperament, a home with children over the age of 10 is recommended. While he isn't afraid of a kennel, he is not considered kennel trained. With time, patience, and continued positive experiences, Alfie is sure to become a loving and devoted member of his forever family.
