Regret Adopting a Dog? How to Handle Adoption Blues
Feeling adopter's remorse after getting a dog? It's normal. Learn why it happens, get practical tips, and find out how shelters can help you overcome dog.
Amos is a sweet and gentle soul, initially a bit shy and anxious due to a tough start in life, but quick to warm up and eager to become your best friend. He thrives on human companionship, loving cuddles and car rides, and finds great comfort in the presence of other dogs. While still working on his housetraining, he's making good progress and enjoys exploring the world on a leash, albeit with frequent stops to follow his nose. Loud noises can startle him, so a calm and patient environment will help him flourish.
As a Basset Hound and Beagle mix, Amos embodies the best of both scent hounds: a keen sense of smell, a love for sniffing adventures, and a generally laid-back demeanor indoors. He gets along well with other dogs, looking to them for reassurance, and has shown friendly curiosity towards cats. His good nature extends to children, having done fine in limited interactions. He is highly food motivated, which is a great asset for continued positive reinforcement training, especially around meal times.
Amos is searching for a loving and patient home, ideally one with another dog to help him feel secure and confident. A fenced-in yard would be a bonus for his housetraining journey and scent-driven explorations. He prefers sleeping with his humans or on a dog bed in the room rather than in a crate. This social, friendly, and affectionate boy promises to be a loyal companion for a family ready to offer him the understanding and gentle guidance he needs.
