Dog Won't Eat After Adoption: What to Do
Is your newly adopted dog not eating? Don't panic! Learn why this common issue happens and get actionable tips to help your dog eat and settle in.
Dexter is a sweet, goofy senior boy who adores human companionship. He loves playing fetch, even tossing the ball to himself if a human isn't available, but he truly thrives with a playmate. Dexter enjoys his walks, is excellent on a leash, and is perfectly house-trained and crate-trained. While he's a quiet, low-key dog, he can be a vocal player with other canines, though he prefers human company overall.
As a Boxer-Bulldog mix, Dexter embodies a wonderful blend of playful energy and loyal affection. Boxers are known for their intelligence, high energy, and goofy antics, while Bulldogs contribute a calm, dignified, and often stubborn streak. Dexter's moderate energy level means he enjoys daily walks and playtime, but is equally content to snuggle on the couch. His short coat requires minimal grooming, and he sheds moderately. He's smart and knows basic commands like sit, stay, and come, responding well to treats.
Dexter would thrive in an active home with a nice fenced yard where he can play fetch and receive plenty of human attention and snuggles. He gets along well with other dogs and is fine as an only pet, but he's not suited for a home with cats due to his curiosity. Given his tendency to get a little jumpy when excited and his strong head-butts, a family with older, respectful children would be ideal. He'd also be a wonderful companion for a veteran or senior who enjoys an active lifestyle.
