Can You Adopt a Cat If You Live Alone?
Adopting a cat when you live alone is entirely possible and rewarding. Learn how to choose the right cat, prepare your home, and navigate the adoption.
Meet Doug, a sweet and handsome young German Shepherd Dog who was rescued as a stray. Despite being found with nystagmus (involuntary eye movements) and a slight head tremor, these symptoms do not seem to affect his joyful spirit. Doug is currently thriving in his foster home, where he gets along wonderfully with the resident female husky, senior chihuahua mix, and especially the cat. He is also crate trained and actively working on his basic obedience, showing great potential for continued learning.
As a German Shepherd Dog, Doug possesses a natural intelligence, loyalty, and a strong desire to please. These traits make him highly trainable and a devoted companion. He has a good amount of energy, typical for his breed and age, and would benefit greatly from engaging activities that challenge both his mind and body. While he's a social butterfly with people and loves to cuddle, he has shown some reactivity towards other dogs during walks, suggesting a need for continued positive reinforcement and management in new environments.
Doug is looking for a forever home that can provide him with continued training and plenty of exercise. An ideal environment would be outside of a bustling city, preferably with a securely fenced yard where he can safely play and explore. He has been introduced to children and done very well, making him a wonderful candidate for a family ready to embrace an active and loving companion. Doug's foster dad describes him as a great boy who is eager to find his perfect match.
