Gus

Gus is a wonderfully gentle and affectionate young dog, currently enjoying life in a foster home in San Diego. He's fully crate-trained and potty-trained, demonstrating excellent house manners. Gus walks well on a leash and has mastered all essential commands, showcasing his intelligence and eagerness to please. While he can occasionally exhibit some fear-based leash reactivity towards other dogs, he responds beautifully to corrections and settles quickly. He lives harmoniously with his senior Labrador brother, treating him with immense patience and kindness, proving his ability to integrate into a multi-dog household with proper introductions.

As a German Shepherd Dog and Anatolian Shepherd mix, Gus possesses the loyalty, intelligence, and protective instincts characteristic of his breeds. These breeds typically have moderate grooming needs, benefiting from weekly brushing to manage their seasonal shedding. They thrive on mental stimulation and consistent training, which Gus clearly enjoys. His foster mom highlights his sensitive and intelligent nature, emphasizing that he needs an owner who understands and appreciates these traits. Despite his large size, Gus is incredibly gentle, especially around children, having been successfully tested with kids aged four and up.

Gus is an adaptable and loving companion who would flourish in a home with a moderate to active lifestyle. He's content with a daily 30-60 minute walk, regular potty breaks, and plenty of affection, but also enjoys enriching playtime with toys. He's a great homebody who has learned self-regulation and confidence in his foster home, making him a joy to live with. Gus will be a devoted family protector and best friend to anyone ready to embrace his intelligent and loving spirit.
