Dog Won't Eat After Adoption: What to Do
Is your newly adopted dog not eating? Don't panic! Learn why this common issue happens and get actionable tips to help your dog eat and settle in.
Jaxx is a playful and highly energetic young dog who thrives on activity. He's incredibly friendly and gets along famously with other dogs, even small ones, as evidenced by his current home with six canine companions. He's also curious but non-aggressive towards cats, making him a versatile friend for various household pets. Jaxx is very food and treat motivated, which makes him eager to learn, and he's already mastered 'sit' and 'paw'. He is fully potty trained and comfortable in a kennel, demonstrating a good foundation for his new home.
As an American Staffordshire Terrier and American Pit Bull Terrier mix, Jaxx embodies the intelligence, loyalty, and affectionate nature of these breeds. He has a strong prey drive and an impressive jumping ability, requiring a secure 6ft fence to keep him safe. While he loves to play and can be quite vocal during playtime, he shows no signs of resource, food, or toy aggression. His high energy means he'd excel as a running or hiking buddy, though he will need continued leash training to perfect his manners on walks.
Jaxx would thrive in an active home that can provide plenty of physical and mental stimulation. He would benefit greatly from one-on-one training to help him focus and refine his skills, as he can be easily distracted by his surroundings. Due to his high energy and tendency to jump, a home with older children would be ideal to prevent accidental tumbles with smaller kids. A meet and greet is required for homes with existing animals to ensure a harmonious transition for this loving and spirited boy.
