Mr. Shilo

Mr. Shilo is a charming one-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix with a heart of gold. Having overcome a challenging past where he had to compete for food among 60 dogs, he has since blossomed in a loving foster home. He's discovered the joys of indoor living, playing with toys, and the comfort of a canine companion. Initially cautious, Mr. Shilo now delights in energetic zoomies in the yard, cozy lap-sitting, and receiving plenty of belly rubs. He's a sensitive soul who thrives on patience and positive reinforcement.

As a mix of Chihuahua and Dachshund, Mr. Shilo inherits a blend of traits. Chihuahuas are known for their loyalty and spirited nature, while Dachshunds contribute a playful and sometimes stubborn streak. He's food-motivated, which can be a great asset for training, though his history means he needs to be fed separately to ensure he feels secure. He's still working on his leash manners but is smart and uses a doggy door proficiently. His short coat requires minimal grooming, but he will have moderate shedding. He has a moderate energy level, enjoying bursts of play balanced with plenty of cuddle time.

Mr. Shilo is seeking a patient and understanding family who can provide a stable, loving environment. He would do best in a home that can give him time to warm up and continue his training, particularly with leash walking. A home with another dog sibling would be wonderful, as he enjoys canine company. While his behavior around children is unknown, a calm household would likely be ideal. He's neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped, ready to bring endless love and happiness to his forever home.
