Rescue Dog Behavior Changes Week by Week
Bringing home a rescue dog means observing their behavior changes week by week. Learn what to expect beyond the 3-3-3 rule and how to support your new.
Viking is a super soft little guy, both in personality and with his lovely coat. He's described as the gentlest soul imaginable and incredibly smart. He tends to be cautious with new experiences, preferring to observe before engaging. He loves to explore and play with his numerous stuffies, squeaky toys, Nyla bones, and rope toys. Despite his initial shyness with new things, he's a very lovable puppy who enjoys snuggling, often putting his paws on your shoulders for a close embrace.
As a Siberian Husky and Labrador Retriever mix, Viking is likely to grow into an active and intelligent companion. Both breeds are known for their playful nature and need for engagement. Huskies thrive on adventure and outdoor activities, while Labradors are eager to please and enjoy being part of family life. He is good with other dogs, cats, and children aged 6 and up, provided introductions are slow and gentle. His intelligence means he will benefit greatly from continued training and mental stimulation.
Viking's ideal family should have some experience with Husky traits and be relatively quiet yet active, loving the outdoors. He will thrive in a home that can provide plenty of adventures, such as hikes and long walks. A securely fenced yard is essential for him to safely run and play. He is excellent in his crate at night and is making great progress with house training, needing a family that can continue to patiently reinforce these skills. Puppy/obedience training is a requirement to help him become the best companion possible.
