Can You Adopt a Cat If You Live Alone?
Adopting a cat when you live alone is entirely possible and rewarding. Learn how to choose the right cat, prepare your home, and navigate the adoption.
Zaire is a sweet, friendly girl with a social and playful personality. She's generally mellow and easygoing, but absolutely loves to get the zoomies and run in a big open yard. Zaire enjoys connection on her own terms and isn't overly pushy for affection, but thrives on human love, happily sitting by you for petting. She is highly food motivated and has never met a stranger, always happy to see new people, making her a delightful companion for those who understand her unique needs.
As a Poodle and Australian Shepherd mix, Zaire combines the intelligence and trainability of a Poodle with the herding instincts and energy of an Australian Shepherd. While she can be mellow, she possesses a strong desire to roam, a common trait in breeds with herding backgrounds, and enjoys dog parks or doggy daycare. Zaire is also quite vocal, expressing herself through talking and howling, which means she is not suited for apartment living or homes with shared walls. Her grooming needs are moderate, requiring weekly brushing, and she has a moderate shedding level. Her energy is moderate, but her exercise needs are high, requiring at least 1-2 hours of activity daily.
Zaire requires a very specific and vigilant home environment. She is an exceptional escape artist who can defeat crates, open doors, and bypass fences, needing constant supervision and a properly reinforced, high fence. She is not a beginner dog and needs a confident, attentive family committed to serious containment. Due to her assertiveness and escape tendencies, she is not a good match for unsteady individuals or young children. A tracking collar, secure harness, and non-slip collar are essential for her safety. For the right family who values vigilance and structure, Zaire will be a loyal, entertaining, and deeply engaging companion, excellent with other dogs of all sizes.
