Formerly known as the Napoleon, the Minuet was created in 1996 by crossing Munchkins with Persian-group breeds — Persians, Himalayans, and Exotic Shorthairs. The result is a low-slung, round-faced cat weighing 5–9 pounds with the sweet, doll-like expression of a Persian on a compact Munchkin frame. Minuets come in both longhair and shorthair varieties, in every color and pattern imaginable — from pointed to bicolor to solid.
Minuets inherit the gentle, easygoing nature of their Persian ancestry combined with the energetic curiosity of the Munchkin. The Russian Blue is a naturally occurring breed believed to have originated in the port city of Arkhangelsk (Archangel) in northern Russia, arriving in Europe aboard trade ships in the 1860s.
