If you're searching for the most affectionate companion, Ulysses is your perfect match! This handsome Basset Hound was born to love and be loved, a purpose he takes very seriously. He adores cuddling, ideally right next to you on the couch, and is a true gentleman in every sense. He is calm, doesn't bark excessively, is not prone to drooling, doesn't jump on people, and never begs for food. Ulysses enjoys leisurely walks and is excellent on a leash, never pulling, though he prefers shorter strolls.
Basset Hounds are known for their gentle, laid-back, and devoted nature, making them wonderful family pets. They are typically good with children and other animals, and Ulysses embodies these traits, getting along well with everyone he meets, including other dogs and reportedly cats. While generally healthy, Basset Hounds can sometimes be prone to back issues due to their long spines, which aligns with Ulysses' occasional stiffness. Their short to medium coat requires minimal grooming, and while they do shed moderately, a weekly brush keeps it under control.
Ulysses is completely house-trained and enjoys sleeping on his own dog bed close to his people at night. He would thrive in a calm home where he can receive plenty of affection and enjoy his favorite pastime: cuddling. Due to his back stiffness, a home without stairs would be ideal to ensure his comfort and well-being. Ulysses is looking for a loving family ready to welcome a sweet, gentle, and devoted companion into their lives.
